What Each PRO-4600 Ink Colour Does

1. Photo Black and Matte Black: Photo Black for glossy, semi-gloss and lustre photo papers; Matte Black for deeper blacks on matte, fine art and canvas. The printer picks the right black for the paper, so keep both installed.
2. Cyan, Magenta and Yellow: the core colours used in almost every print.
3. Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta and Photo Grey: lighter inks for smooth highlights, skin tones and neutral black and white prints.
4. Grey: cleaner neutral tones and smoother gradations in mono and colour work.
5. Red and Blue: extend the colour gamut for richer reds, purples and deep blues.
6. Chroma Optimiser: a clear ink that evens out gloss and deepens blacks on photo papers.

Which Ink Size: 160ml, 330ml or 700ml?

1. 700ml (PFI-3700): fewest tank changes and usually the lowest cost per millilitre, the popular choice for a busy 44" printer.
2. 330ml (PFI-3300): a balance of capacity and cost for regular photo, poster and fine art printing.
3. 160ml (PFI-3100): the lowest outlay, for lower volumes or colours you use less often.

Canon PRO-4600 Ink: Frequently Asked Questions

Which ink cartridges does the Canon PRO-4600 use?

The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-4600 uses 12 genuine Canon LUCIA PRO II ink colours: Photo Black, Matte Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta, Grey, Photo Grey, Red, Blue and Chroma Optimiser. Each colour comes in 160ml, 330ml and 700ml.

What is the Canon part number for PRO-4600 ink?

PRO-4600 ink uses the PFI-3100 (160ml), PFI-3300 (330ml) and PFI-3700 (700ml) part numbers, except Matte Black, which is PFI-2100MBK, PFI-2300MBK or PFI-2700MBK because it is shared with the GP-2000 and GP-4000.

Can I mix 160ml, 330ml and 700ml ink in the PRO-4600?

Yes. The PRO-4600 accepts 160ml, 330ml and 700ml tanks of the same Canon ink, so you can buy a larger size of the colours you use most, such as Photo Black or Matte Black.

Do the PRO-2600, PRO-4600 and PRO-6600 use the same ink?

Yes. The PRO-2600, PRO-4600 and PRO-6600 all use the same 12 ink colours in 160ml, 330ml and 700ml sizes.

Will PRO-4000 or PRO-4100 ink fit the PRO-4600?

No. The PRO-4000 and PRO-4100 use PFI-1100, PFI-1300 and PFI-1700 LUCIA PRO ink, which does not fit the PRO-4600.

Does the PRO-4600 use Orange ink?

No. Orange is for the GP-series printers. The PRO-4600 uses Red, Blue and Chroma Optimiser instead.

What does Chroma Optimiser ink do?

Chroma Optimiser is a clear ink that evens out gloss and deepens blacks on glossy, semi-gloss and lustre photo papers. It is one of the 12 PRO-4600 inks and needs to be installed.

Which print head and maintenance cartridge does the PRO-4600 use?

The PRO-4600 uses the Canon PF-10 print head (0861C001AA) and the Canon MC-30 maintenance cartridge (1156C002AB).

Are your PRO-4600 ink cartridges genuine Canon?

Yes. Every PRO-4600 ink cartridge we sell is a brand new, genuine Canon product with its own Canon part number and EAN, supplied by iPF Store, a Canon Platinum Partner.

How quickly can my PRO-4600 ink be delivered?

Order before 4.30pm for next working day UK delivery. Call 0800 970 2244 for education discounts, bulk pricing or advice.
