When Should You Replace a Canon Print Head?

• Missing lines or banding that remain after several head cleanings
• Nozzle check gaps that cleaning cannot clear
• A print head error message on the printer's control panel
• Colour shifts or streaks that persist after recalibration

Before replacing the print head, run a nozzle check and up to two head cleanings. If gaps remain, a new genuine Canon print head restores the printer's original quality. How to Replace a Canon Print Head

1. Check your ink levels. Make sure every ink tank has enough ink, as filling the new head uses ink.
2. Start the replacement from the printer menu. On the control panel, choose the print head replacement option under maintenance. Menu names vary by model, so follow the on-screen steps.
3. Remove the old print head. Open the top cover, raise the print head lock lever and lift out the old head.
4. Fit the new print head. Remove the protective parts without touching the nozzles or electrical contacts, then seat the head and lower the lock lever.
5. Let the printer finish. Close the cover. The printer fills the head with ink and runs an automatic head alignment. Then print a nozzle check to confirm.
