Which PFI-3100 Ink Fits My Printer?

All tanks are genuine Canon, 160ml, LUCIA PRO II pigment ink. A tick shows which series each tank fits. Matte Black (PFI-2100MBK) and Orange (PFI-2100O) carry PFI-2100 names but belong to this ink set. Need bigger tanks? See the PFI-3300 330ml range or the PFI-3700 700ml range.

✓ = fits. ✗ = does not fit that series. Orange is GP-x600S only; Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta, Photo Grey, Red, Blue and Chroma Optimiser are PRO-x600 only. PRO 12-Ink vs GP 7-Ink: What's the Difference?

• PRO-2600, PRO-4600, PRO-6600 (12 inks): built for photography, fine art and giclée. On top of the core inks they add Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta and Photo Grey for smoother highlights, Red and Blue for a wider colour gamut, and Chroma Optimiser for even gloss on photo papers.
• GP-2600S, GP-4600S, GP-6600S (7 inks): built for posters, retail and point-of-sale graphics. They use Matte Black, Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Grey and Orange (PFI-2100O).

The Matte Black, Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Grey tanks are shared, so studios running both series can stock one set of core inks.

Every LUCIA PRO II colour comes in three sizes, and you can mix sizes across colours in the same printer.

• 160ml PFI-3100 (this range): lowest outlay per tank, ideal for lower-volume studios, occasional colours or keeping spares
• 330ml PFI-3300: a balance of capacity and cost for regular studio printing
• 700ml PFI-3700: fewest ink changes and usually the lowest cost per millilitre for high-volume work

Matte Black or Photo Black?

Both series carry two blacks, each with its own nozzles, so there is no manual switching. Photo Black (PFI-3100PBK) is used on glossy, semi-gloss and lustre photo papers. Matte Black (PFI-2100MBK) is used on matte, fine art and canvas media, where it gives a deeper black. Matte Black carries the PFI-2100 name because the same tank was introduced for the earlier GP-2000 and GP-4000 and carried over to this range.

Print Head & Maintenance Cartridge

Both series use the Canon PF-10 print head and the Canon MC-30 maintenance cartridge. When one ink runs low, check the others and the maintenance cartridge so you can replace them in the same order.

Which PFI-3100 inks fit the GP-2600S, GP-4600S and GP-6600S?

Matte Black (PFI-2100MBK), Photo Black (PFI-3100PBK), Cyan (PFI-3100C), Magenta (PFI-3100M), Yellow (PFI-3100Y) and Grey (PFI-3100GY), plus Orange (PFI-2100O). Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta, Photo Grey, Red, Blue and Chroma Optimiser are PRO-only.

Do PFI-3100 inks fit the GP-2000 or GP-4000?

Only the PFI-2100MBK Matte Black is shared. The earlier GP-2000 and GP-4000 use PFI-2100 colour inks, not PFI-3100.

How much ink does a Canon PFI-3100 cartridge contain?

Each tank contains 160ml of genuine Canon LUCIA PRO II pigment ink. Larger 330ml PFI-3300 and 700ml PFI-3700 tanks are also available.

Can I mix 160ml, 330ml and 700ml tanks in the same printer?

Yes. The PRO-x600 and GP-x600S accept all three sizes, so you can choose the size that suits each colour.

What is the difference between Photo Black and Matte Black?
